My Favourite Pastime - Motors

"Where are You staying this Weekend?"

In the 'van of course !

Throughout the year we’re involved in a variety of events with  vintage sports cars  as competitors, marshals or spectators. A motorhome provides us with all the flexibility we need when travelling to events, or just touring, in England , Scotland and Wales.

Longer trips to the mountains of Europe & Scandinavia , as well as the UK , do not have to be planned around ‘fixed’ accommodation. Often we will decide where we are heading the week before we leave home; last September we were planning to go to the Highlands of Scotland until we saw the weather forecast for our week off. Instead, we headed South and the forecast was , apparently, correct.

Some time ago, having decided that a motor home would suit our lifestyle , we had to do some research, as there is such a huge choice of size/layout/specification. We bought our Knaus Traveller in 2002 and have used it at all times of the year  - even when there is snow on the ground.

Something we have seen over the past few years is an increase in the numbers of motor homes on the roads at times outside of the traditional holidays . It is much more comfortable than my first days of  staying in a 'van.

As a child my parents had a VW camper. The freedom to travel and stay where you want to is the same now as it was in 1971.'
